Wood-pewees migrate commonly through Oasis Valley in April, May and June (usually most in June), and a southern movement in August and September. They can be seen flycatching in cottonwoods, willows, mesquite, and other trees. Breeding occurs in montane forest, riparian areas, and pinyon-juniper woodland in scattered mountains and other locations, possibly including Ash Meadows to the south of us. They nest in the Grapevine Mountains 20 miles to the west of our area.
