Thes beautiful blue birds wander into Oasis Valley irregularly through the winter, spring, and fll. I have not seen them here in June and July. They are not seen all the time, and usually only one shows up for a while, as in Octobe when many pinyon-juniper mountain birds seem to come downslope. They nest commonly in the forested ranges of Nevada and adjacent California, including the nearby Grapevine Mountains.

^Flying fast like an arrow.

^On a branch pile by Honey mesquites.

Calls include a lively "aik" and a harsh "shack, shack, shack".

^Flapping by a bunk-house on a ranch.
