These lively musical chirpers winter fairly commonly in Oasis Valley, from September through March. They prefer moist marshes, cottonwood and willow thickets, weedy areas, and house yards. Song sparrows breed locally in Ash Meadows, 40 miles to the south along the Amargosa River drainage in Nevada.
